Don’t just take our word for it – Michael Elsner loves the Mikey

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

“…an incredible sounding mic and an instant hit …”

Our mics are created for and by musicians and artists, but don’t just take our word on how good they are – Award winning songwriter and musician, Michael Elsner, recently tried out the Mikey, portable iPod/iPhone mic, and had this to say –

“The Blue Mikey is an incredible sounding mic and an instant hit at my various writing sessions.  It’s 3 recording levels allow me to record everything from full band writing sessions to intimate acoustic/vocal sessions with amazing clarity and sonic quality.”

Maybe we can get Michael back on the blog to discuss the specific ways he uses the Mikey and his secret tips.

Michael has worked with top groups including Sixpence None the Richer, The Backstreet Boys, along with various television, album and film projects  including the Ella Enchanted soundtrack, The Young & The Restless, The Bold & the Beautiful and most recently CBS Television’s ‘The Ex List.’

Guest Blog: How I use my Blue Microphone – Mikey

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Producer Joel Geddis explains how he used the Mikey to get the perfect kick drum sound -

To get the kick drum sound for the record “Sunshine” I produced for Atlantic Records artist Cody Simpson, I used my Mikey to sample a large cardboard box being hit with a meat tenderizer. It had a lot of “thump” but needed some “air.” So, I used my Mikey to sample traffic noise, flew in the recording over-the-air via Fire Recorder, inserted a noise gate, and side-chained it to the kick drum. When the kick hit, the noise gate opened on the traffic noise, and added “air” to the “thump.”

How are you using your portable microphone for the iPod, iPhone and iTouch to get the perfect sound?
